I met Brooke when I worked in dentistry, she was my patient. I remember the first day I met Brooke she was in my dental chair, and I honestly can’t remember what procedure we were doing that day, but that’s really beside the point. We started talking about our kids, her little girl Sophie is the same age as my little boy Brooks.
At the time Dustin and I didn’t have a lot of friends with kids and Brooke really came into our lives in a good season. Dustin and I had been talking about needing friends with kids! So, Brooke was such a blessing in that regard.
When I left my dental job last year to do this full time. I knew I couldn’t do weddings alone anymore. I had done weddings by myself for awhile, but I really wanted more for my Brides. I wanted to make sure that each Bride, Groom, and their families were taken care of in a way that I just couldn’t do alone anymore.
Brooke was the perfect fit for what I needed! Brooke is one of the most kind, loving, and compassionate people I have ever met! She has the same kind spirit that I do and she is so amazing that she wants me to succeed with the goals that I have. She even sets new goals for me to strive for 🙂
A few years ago I photographed my dear friend Melinda Sheree Photography’s wedding. At her wedding her grandmother was sick and I didn’t know it. A few weeks after her wedding her grandmother passed away. I knew the photographs I took before that moment were important, but I think after that happened it really resonated in my heart what we photographers actually do. We preserve time in beautiful photographs with people that love each other. That is so important and that is an honor!
Two months before every wedding I send out a questionnaire, it’s the longest questionnaire you will probably ever fill out in your life! I also realize it may be the most annoying 😉 ,but I do this because of moments like I mentioned above. I need to know those names of everyone that you want your pictures made with, because your wedding day matters to me and to Brooke. It would break my heart if I didn’t get a photograph of you and someone you love.
I say all of that because Brooke helps me gather those people you love, and she does it with so much kindness and grace. She never complains about running to get someone that forgot to stay after the ceremony for pictures with you. She understands why each person on the list we create together is so important, because at each wedding we are reminded of how special this day really is.
Brooke has shadowed under me to be my second photographer as well. She helps me in times when I can’t be two places at once. She also gets different angles during your ceremony, getting ready, and in between. She has learned my style and what I expect from each photograph she takes. She takes her time, much like if she were shooting film. I’m excited to teach her how to shoot film and incorporate those skills learned soon.
Out of all the blessings I’ve had this year Brooke has to be one of my favorites! If you haven’t met this precious gal yet, I can’t wait for you to meet her on your wedding day! This only scratches the surface of what Brooke does for me and my Brides. She is such a blessing for sure!
With love,
Michelle

She seems adorable! Congrats to you both 🙂
I am a huge fan of your work, Michelle! Loved reading about what Brooke does for your business! What an adorable family!!
This is awesome! I worked as an intern and assistant for what seemed like forever until I ventured out on my own. It felt awesome when I got recognized for the work I did to keep all the plates spinning!
