I’m so excited I can now FINALLY blog this styled shoot I did this past October. This styled shoot will hold a very special place close to my heart because just before I did it I decided to fulfill my dream of being a wedding photographer full time. I wont go into detail about that decision I made but if you would like to know more about it you can click here!
The styled shoot was inspired by my grandmothers. They both loved sewing and and they both had a Singer sewing machine just like the one in these pictures. I think one of the awesome things about doing this sort of thing is that I can show brides something different. That you can take something that’s dear to your heart (in this case my grandmothers) and you can incorporate them into your wedding.
I chose colors that were a little out of the norm because I wanted you to be able to think about color in a different way. Typically most people wouldn’t put these together but they really compliment each other so well!
The vendors involved in making this happen were awesome to work with!
The Millstone is breathtaking! I want to live there. I love this place so much and Wendy is super sweet and so easy to work with!
If your still looking for rentals Southern Knot Wedding & Event Rentals is awesome to work with and she has an amazing inventory!
Laura at Rainbow’s Inn Floral rocked out everything I envisioned for the floral design she is awesome! Brooks and I love going into the shop to see their cat, Brooks is obsessed with their cat.. we need to pay them a visit because he talks about their cat at least once a week 🙂 .
Kristie at Annie’s room was so sweet to work with! A lot of my brides have gotten their dress from Annie’s room 🙂 and their customer service goes above and beyond!
Embree House Wedding Cakes did a great job on this pretzel cake! I wanted to be a little quirky with the cake and they completely nailed the vision I had for it! The also did the cake for Carrie and Jeff’s wedding at Harvest Acres Farm a few weeks ago. If you’d like to take a peak at their cake you can click here for the link! The cake was SO GOOD too!
I made a last minute decision that I wanted to have a video made during the shoot. I had never photographed Carrie and her husband Blake so I thought it would be a perfect time to show others some behind the scenes moments of how we hang out at sessions. I think having the video just put into perspective that I was leaving my day job to do something my heart truly wanted. If you’d like to see the video that LionCat Media made for me click here.
I honestly never thought this shoot would get featured on a big publication. I guess I’ve come to the conclusion that I’m “growing” into the artist that I’m aspiring to be… I posted a picture a few weeks ago on Facebook and one of my followers said “Michelle, I love this! I don’t even have to look at the name anymore I knew you took it because it looks like you”.
She may never know that I sat here and had tears in my eyes from her comment because this is my heart, this is what I love, and this is what makes my heart happy. To know that you can recognize my pictures because of how they look… I have tears in my eyes right now, that all I ever wanted was to have a voice, a voice that doesn’t have to speak because it speaks for itself.
If you guys want to check out the feature on The Ruffled Blog check it out here!
