Phoenix AZ Engagement Photographer | Desert Engagement Session with Airplane & Sunset Views
This blog post is part one of a two-location engagement session, be sure to check back later this week for the second set of images! For Mark and Caylan’s engagement photos, we planned two completely different locations over two separate days, and I can honestly say it made their session unforgettable.
As a Phoenix AZ engagement photographer, this was my first time photographing in Arizona, and I completely fell in love with the desert landscape, the light, and the unique storytelling opportunities it offers. Coming from East Tennessee, it felt like stepping into an entirely different world in the best way.
Mark and Caylan’s story is one of my favorites. They met through work, Mark is a pilot and Caylan is a flight attendant, so incorporating aviation into their engagement session was incredibly meaningful. Including an airplane in their engagement photos made their story feel personal, intentional, and completely unique to them.
Being able to photograph them with an airplane in the Arizona desert was something truly special. It wasn’t just about the location, it was about capturing who they are and what connects them. The aircraft added such a cinematic and adventurous feel to their engagement session that you don’t often get in traditional engagement photography.
Mark also grew up in Arizona, which made Phoenix the perfect place to tell part of their love story. I always love when couples choose locations that hold personal meaning, it adds depth to the images and makes the entire experience more emotional and memorable.
And then there was the Arizona sunset. The desert sky completely exceeded my expectations. Soft pink tones melted into warm oranges as the sun set behind the horizon, creating one of the most breathtaking skies I’ve ever photographed. The light in Phoenix is truly something special, it feels almost unreal at times.
There was only one other time I’ve experienced a sunset that powerful, and it was on a cold mountain back in East Tennessee. It’s moments like these that remind me why I love photographing weddings and engagements, the way light, place, and story come together is always different, always intentional.
Mark and Caylan, I absolutely loved every part of your Phoenix engagement session. From the airplane to the desert sunset, your story was such a joy to capture. I can’t wait to share the second half of your session soon!
