East TN Boat Engagement Photographer | Johnson City & Kingsport TN Engagement Session on the Lake

Shawna and Isaac’s engagement session is one I will never forget, and as an East TN engagement photographer, sessions like this are exactly why I love what I do.

This session actually took place over two days on a bass boat here in East Tennessee. And yes… I’m smiling writing this because day one did not go as planned. We arrived ready to shoot, only to realize the boat battery had other plans. What makes it even better is that their very first date involved the exact same situation. So in a way, history repeated itself, and I was just there to document it.

We spent the first evening laughing, hanging out, and trying to get things working, but eventually ran out of light before we could fully complete the session. Instead of forcing it, we decided to come back the next morning, and I am so glad we did.

The second day gave us calm water, beautiful light, and the most perfect conditions for their engagement photos on the lake. I never thought I would say this, but after this session… I might officially be a boat person now. My husband may disagree, but a girl can dream, right?

When Shawna first reached out about her wedding, she really wanted engagement photos for her save-the-dates but also envisioned a spring session later on. So we decided to split their experience into two parts: a unique lake/boat session now, and a second engagement session in the spring with their dogs (which I am beyond excited for!).

What I love most about Shawna and Isaac is how natural they are together. They are so easygoing, full of laughter, and completely in sync with each other. Even with unexpected delays and a two-day session, they made everything fun and effortless.

Shawna and Isaac, I absolutely loved your engagement session. Thank you for your patience, your joy, and of course the pumpkin latte, it was delicious! I cannot wait to see you again in the spring and capture the next part of your story.
