Their story began while attending Southern Adventist University in Collegedale, TN. Drew was friends with Emily’s roommate, and the two met at a birthday party. Emily remembers noticing Drew right away, he was hard to miss! As they spent more time around mutual friends and crossed paths on campus, their connection naturally grew.

One of their sweetest early memories together started with music. Emily’s favorite band, Jars of Clay, was playing a concert in Atlanta, and Drew invited her to go with him. During that trip, he asked her to start dating, and from that moment on, their relationship continued to grow into something truly special.

During their sophomore year, both Emily and Drew felt called to serve through missionary work. The following year, they spent time apart, Emily in Pohnpei and Drew in Kenya. Despite the distance, they made it a priority to stay connected, talking every Tuesday. That season strengthened their relationship and confirmed what they already knew: they wanted to spend their lives together.

After graduating in the spring, Drew planned a surprise trip to Germany to celebrate. While there, he arranged a romantic picnic overlooking Mount Säuling with views of a breathtaking castle. It was there that he proposed to Emily, a moment straight out of a dream.

Not long after their engagement, their story took an unexpected turn. Drew was involved in a serious bicycle accident that left him in the ICU with a traumatic brain injury. Emily rushed home immediately to be by his side. Through weeks of uncertainty, recovery, and therapy, their love and faith never wavered.
