The beautiful Makenna Elizabeth was born in February of 2022.
Emily and Zach are long time clients of mine. For the last few years I have watched their journey unfold. From their engagement to their gorgeous wedding in 2018 and now becoming parents. One of the more beautiful parts of being a photographer is watching families grow over the years. I get to see couples fall in love with each other and then their children. As you’ll see below, Emily and Zach are head over heels in love with their little girl. What makes her birth even sweeter is the heartfelt effort that went into getting her here.
Emily is all about health and taking care of her body, so after noticing something wasn’t quite right, she took a trip to the doctor to address her concerns. Shortly after, Emily was diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) in 2020. Aside from the physical obstacles that one faces, the mental obstacles are even greater. It’s common for women with PCOS to have infertility troubles and Emily was no exception. After several months of doctor appointments, prescriptions, and prayers, Emily and Zach were finally able to announce that their miracle baby was on the way.
Infertility does not discriminate. In fact, about one out of five women struggle with infertility. There’s a stigma that revolves around infertility and miscarriage. It’s all very hush hush, almost as if women should be ashamed if they can’t conceive. Over the last few years, more women have come forward with their stories on social media and have shared about the ache of waiting for that plus sign and the disappointment of loss. This openness has created a community that takes what feels like an insurmountable situation and offers hope.
Emily and Zach’s journey to parenthood may not be one you hear about often but it is just as beautiful.
With love,
Michelle
