It’s been on my mind for sometime to blog about wedding day jewelry and accessories. There are so many options to accessorize your wedding look that I get overwhelmed thinking about all the possibilities! If it overwhelms me, I’m pretty sure some of you feel the same way. Today I’m sharing a few tips on how to accessorize your wedding dress without going over the top. You see, it’s so easy to get wrapped up in it all, but in true fashion, less is more.
Choosing the right color jewelry for your gown color
Believe it or not having the right tones really make and compliment your dress.

Tips for choosing the best jewelry for your wedding gown
Hair accessory Tips: Veils, combs, tiaras and the less is more mentality
After choosing your jewelry there’s the decision to wear a veil. Should I wear a veil, should I not, what about a comb, or a flower in my hair? I think all of this depends on your dress, and the look you envision on your wedding day.
Short Veils vs long veils
This is every brides personal preference. A lot weighs on what type of dress you choose and your style, there is no right or wrong answer. Finding a veil can sometimes be like finding your perfect dress, you will know, I promise. After finding the perfect dress try on veils, and keep in mind you do not have to buy your veil at the same store as your dress. If this is the case take your dress veil shopping with you. Don’t settle if your not in love with the veil, because if you do you may be disappointed.
Long veils
If you choose to have a veil I wouldn’t choose a tiara unless your jewelry was simple. For instance a tiara, cathedral veil, large statement earrings, necklace, and a bridal sash for your waist might be a little overwhelming, because there is a lot of larger pieces close to your face. Having all these larger statements can take away from you on your wedding day. Instead if you want to have all these items choose a small tiara, cathedral veil, smaller earrings, and necklace. These smaller items will help keep your face and body more proportioned and flattering with all of these details.
Short veils
The same rules apply as mentioned above, keep your large statement pieces to a minimum. With a short veil I wouldn’t use hair accessories like a tiara, rather use smaller accessories like a hair comb placed in the back of your hair, this also looks great with long veils too! Veils also look really pretty placed underneath your comb which will show off your hair accessory detail, and it will be easy to take photos with and without your veil for different looks.
Veils with details
Adding a veil with beaded detail, or lace can really compliment your dress and tie in your overall wedding look. If your dress has beaded accents look for a veil with beaded details that match, or the same applies to a lace gown. Look for a veil that has lace that compliments your lace dress.
Why less is more
If you watch my insta stories on instagram (click here to follow me on instagram) you know that I say I’m a diva a lot! In true fashion I am a diva, but a nice one. I just know what I like, and I know what I want. I tend to want it all, whenever I see it. But, this rule doesn’t apply to wedding day detail accessories for me.
Less is more! My mentality about photographing people, and wedding dress accessories go hand in hand. I always tell my couples I would prefer no props because I want you to look back on these photos and see yourselves, the way you are, right now, and forever. That same mentality goes hand in hand with your wedding day jewelry. I want you to be you. I want you to choose things that enhance your beauty, not take away from it. A lot of times we get caught up with thinking we need all these things, but in reality we shine brighter when less is more.
I hope these tips help you as you continue to plan for your wedding day. You are, and will always be a timeless bride. For more wedding planning tips click here. Did you miss the post about tips for choosing the best wedding dress for your body type? If so, click here!
