Kaitlin and Salvador were married on August 20 at Still Hollow Farm located in Greenville TN. It was a beautiful day with a little rain shower before the ceremony for good luck đ . We were all happy the rain cleared for the ceremony, which was held outside underneath a blanket of trees. It was beautiful!
I loved how Kaitlin and Salvador incorporated both American and Hispanic culture into their wedding. In Hispanic culture the grooms family provide the rings for the Bride and Groom, they also present a bible to the couple during the ceremony. I loved that the pastor spoke Spanish and English during the ceremony. It was heartwarming seeing both families come together.
Kaitlin has a strong relationship with her family and she is very close to her parents. While I was taking pictures of Kaitlin getting ready she whispered to me that she had a gift to give to her mom. She showed me a teacup. When Kaitlin was 10 years old she was having a hard time. I think we all go through this stage of life, where we don’t feel pretty, or worthy etc. Her mom took her to a tea room that day.
As they sat down she began to tell Kaitlin her worth. She first pulled out of her bag a styrofoam cup, she said this cup is just a simple cup that we drink from and we throw this away when we are done. She said, some people go through life feeling like this. Then she pulled out a coffee mug. She said this is just a plain coffee mug, it gets the job done. Sometimes in our life we just go by and we get the job done. Then she pulled out this teacup. She began to tell Kaitlin how beautiful she was just like this teacup. She said this teacup is delicate, this is fine china, this teacup is unique, there is none like this one. God made you special just like this teacup is special. You were created in his image and you are beautiful and you serve a purpose.
I’m taking pictures while her mom told this beautiful story. Kaitlin saved this teacup to give back to her mom on her wedding day. We are all crying at this point, I couldn’t see through my viewfinder for the tears.
I am so thankful God introduced me to Kaitlin because through her he reminded me why I decided to pursue this purpose. Often times wedding photographers forget why we are there. We get so used to a wedding day, we get so caught up on which blog we should get published with etc. etc. None of that matters! It’s not about the “stuff”. It is about the story, and sometimes God will send you a Kaitlin to remind you of what love truly looks like.
Thank you Kaitlin and Salvador for giving me the opportunity to be a part of telling your story. I feel so blessed and honored. I wish you both many blessings in your marriage.
With love,
Michelle
