I know many of you reading this are probably on the verge of walking down the isle. I know some of you have just started planning for next year. I think you both can benefit from this post!
In my experience over the years I’ve noticed that the “getting ready room” has been pushed to the side in the planning process. I know it’s just a room where you put your makeup on and your dress, and most of us (I was one of them) don’t think of it being a big deal. Although it’s not a huge deal it is a HUGE part of your wedding day, and I hope this post will help you realize it’s importance.
The getting ready room is the first room your going to start making memories in. You will laugh and cry in this room, and believe me I’ve cried with a few of my brides on their wedding day and it always happens in this room!
This is the room your grandmother will meet you in, hug you, see you for the first time, hold your hand and tell you how beautiful you are and how proud she is of you. This is that room! I’ve got tears just thinking about it! These are some of my favorite memories!
This is the room you will be in while you giggle and laugh with your best friends and talk about your future with the love of your life. This is the room where you will put on your wedding dress. In this room you will look at yourself in the mirror and be in awe of how beautiful you are! When you leave this room it will be the last time your a Miss before you become a Mrs. This room is VALUABLE!
I want to give you a few wedding planning tips on how to prep for getting ready. As you can see this room is pretty important! I want you to have pretty pictures throughout your wedding day. I want you to have a frame worthy picture of the first moments with your grandmother as she sees you without clutter and beautiful light to showcase the love that you have for each other.
I never thought of these things before I put my focus on wedding photography. Over the past few years I just realized that you deserve pretty pictures from the start all the way to the end. Every moment is important and I cherish the fact that I have the honor of photographing them. I want you to have those pictures of these sweet moments preserved beautifully without distractions.
I just love each of you and thank you so much for reading this little blog of mine!
Happy wedding planning 🙂

As a planner I have been trying to get my brides to focus on detials for this space. It is so important.
Thank you so much Tara! This room is so important when you put everything into perspective.
AMEN! These tips are so so important! I love when a bride has a beautiful getting ready space, lots of natural light, and keeps it tidy! That’s the dream 🙂
Thank you Betsy! I completely agree!
Seriously, these are GREAT tips! I wish my wedding venue had had a better getting ready space for my girls and I. They had no other extra rooms near a bathroom so we only had one option!
PS beautiful images! xo
Thank you so much Lorna! I think for situations like that when you don’t have a great room. I’m going to try really hard to think outside of the box for finding a good room to at least putting the dress on 🙂
Fabulous list and advice! 🙂
Thank you Mariana!
